Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia:
No Kill Sanctuary
SANCTUARY HOURS: Thu / Fri / Sat 12 noon - 4 pm
Morgantown, West Virginia
304-290-4PET (4738)
Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia (AFNCWV) is committed to ending the mistreatment and killing of all animals by promoting public awareness. Animal Friends invested untold people hours and over $65,000 to complete the extensive modifications and upgrades required to operate an animal sanctuary.
-
We work closely with the local Canine Adoption Center, rescuing and promoting the adoption of homeless animals. Our base of operations is in Monongalia County, but we also serve the counties of Wetzel, Marion, Tucker and Preston.
-
AFNCWV has a high quality, non-profit shelter and foster program. We provide refuge, aid and care for unwanted, abandoned, and abused animals.
-
We provide an alternative to unwarranted euthanasia.
-
We provide rescue, placement and spay/neuter for dogs and cats.
-
We are active supporters of the WV Spay/Neuter Act and Senate Bill 588 regarding cruelty to animals, contribute to local feral cat programs, speak out about the responsibilities of pet ownership, and are dedicated to the improvement of the health and well-being of all animals.
-
We are committed to the prevention of cruelty to animals through education and advocacy.
-
We are an all volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) agency.
Special thanks to Trinity Christian School!
We did a recent Shoe Box project with the elementary school children, who decorated shoe boxes and gave them to the shelter. The cats love sleeping in them!
We do not take animals directly from the public. We get our animals from local shelters, Hospice, RDVIC, American Red Cross, and nursing homes. If you need to find a home for an animal, take it to the Canine Adoption Center in Morgantown. We work closely with them as they determine which animals we can ultimately take. They can be contacted by phone at: 304-291-7267 or via email. You can also find information on them at the Petfinder web site.
IF PIGS COULD FLY!
Opening the shelter was a long, hard project. Some thought it may be impossible. But we did it - thanks to all our wonderful volunteers!
Our first adoption!
Happy faces on the shelter porch
