National Spay-Neuter Day - February 24

Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia joined the Monongalia County Canine Adoption Center in celebrating national Spay Day USA 2009 on February 24th from 12-3 pm. They were joined by other groups that support spay neuter: Collect Aluminim for Neuter Spay (C.A.N.S.), a project sponsored by Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic. Representatives from Mountaineer Spay Neuter Assistance Program were present.

This was a free informational celebration to allow the public to learn about the local programs, including the low cost spay/neuter clinic at the Animal Friends Sanctuary - scheduled to open in the Fall - as well as register for a drawing for a free spay or neuter, and other door prizes. Other groups had educational materials, as well.

Last year, almost 2000 were killed in Monongalia County alone. Come down to the Monongalia County Canine Adoption Center to show support to end the unwarranted euthanasia, and show support to those trying to make a difference in the lives of the animals in North Central West Virginia.

For more information, call the Canine Adoption Center at 304-291-7267. Or, call 304-290-1010 / 304-290-4738.

Why you should spay/neuter your pets

Every day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born in the US. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. As a result, every year 4 to 6 million animals are euthanized because there are no homes for them. Please spay and neuter

What can you do to stop the suffering? Spay and neuter your pet!

We spay and neuter ALL pets prior to adoption.
