Birdie

Hi, I’m Birdie! I’m the famous dog who eluded all humans on my month long tour around Morgantown! Some nice ladies finally caught me in a cage, and here I am! I absolutely love my new people, and all of the dogs! I also love my tennis ball. Do you see it? I will show it to you all day until you throw it! My new people give me new ones all of the time, and it’s like Christmas every time! Anywho, I am around 1 year old, and I’m a super fun loving dog! I weigh somewhere between 35-40lbs, and am quite compact. My shelter mom says I’m the perfect size!
I do super well in my crate, and go in on command. I love walks, and hikes! I also like treats, but tennis balls are my favorite reward! I’m looking for a nice family to show me the good life! I would love a sibling who loves to play with me, I get the craziest zoomies! I don’t really care about cats, and kids are cool too. I do need a home with a pretty nice fence, one that I can’t get out of. I would be down for leash walks too. My shelter mom doesn’t trust me to take another eluding vacation, and says she doesn’t want to chase me around town ever again.
I can go to my new home once I’m spayed. I am current on core vaccinations, microchipped, I have been dewormed, given monthly flea and tick prevention, and I am being treated for Lyme disease.

Her adoption fee is $150 but any potential adopter still needs an approved adoption application.

Adopting a Pet

To adopt an animal, please fill out an adoption application before visiting the Sanctuary. This speeds up the adoption process. All adoption applications require a reference check from a previous or current veterinarian and other references as needed.

The adoption fee covers all vaccinations, heartworm and feline leukemia/FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) testing, de-worming, and spay or neuter procedure.

Adoption Checklist

So, you think you're ready to adopt a pet? Check out the checklist below.

  • Browse available pets on the website.
  • Fill out the Adoption Form and submit it.
  • Schedule an appointment to visit the shelter and meet your new friend.
  • Pay the Adoption Fee.
  • Take your new best friend home.

If you choose not to keep your adopted pet, contact Animal Friends at 304-290-4738, and we will make arrangements to re-enter the pet into the foster/adoption program. Your adoption fee is non-refundable.
