Introducing Ferdinand 🤠
Ferdy is a 3-4yr Boxer/Bully mix. He is a gentle giant with no idea of his actual size. Ferdy was a stray who unfortunately had some rough days behind him. He was one of the skinniest pups we have met weighing only 45lbs. He will probably be in the 75-80lb range once filled out. But he didnt let that slow him down! He does everything with 100% confidence. He is a giant cry baby who just wants to be loved as much as he will love you. Ferdy loves walks, car rides, people, and food. He is smart when he needs to be, and an absolute goofball the rest of the time. He still has some weight to gain with time.
Ferdy appears to be potty trained, knows basic commands, and is just a good boy. He has tested well with cats, and doesnt seem to mind other dogs. He is just happy to be here! We will require meet and greets with existing dogs in the home, and would not recommend small children out of fear of him bulldozing them over.
He would benefit from some training classes for fun and learning to control his size. And we would be happy to make those recommendations!
His adoption fee is $150 but any potential adopter still needs an approved adoption application.

This application takes at least a business day to process, so sending it in gets the process going! 📆

Adopting a Pet
To adopt an animal, please fill out an adoption application before visiting the Sanctuary. This speeds up the adoption process. All adoption applications require a reference check from a previous or current veterinarian and other references as needed.

The adoption fee covers all vaccinations, heartworm and feline leukemia/FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) testing, de-worming, and spay or neuter procedure.
Adoption Checklist
So, you think you're ready to adopt a pet? Check out the checklist below.
- Browse available pets on the website.
- Fill out the Adoption Form and submit it.
- Schedule an appointment to visit the shelter and meet your new friend.
- Pay the Adoption Fee.
- Take your new best friend home.
If you choose not to keep your adopted pet, contact Animal Friends at 304-290-4738, and we will make arrangements to re-enter the pet into the foster/adoption program. Your adoption fee is non-refundable.
