Introducing Poppi 💖
Poppi is a 4-5 year old hound mix. This girl has a story that we wish she could tell. An unclaimed stray from a county animal control facility, weighing less than 30lbs on intake. Yet this ridiculously sweet girl still only has love to offer. Now at almost 40-45lbs, she’s feeling so much better. Poppi is one of the happiest dogs you will ever encounter. She loves every human she has met, and is always excited to meet other dogs. Poppi always has a wagging tail, offers the best hugs, cries for all of the attention she can get, and has the most soulful eyes on this planet.
While Poppi is still thin, and has some weight to gain, she’s ready to find a forever home. She will need a family who is patient, and can help her slowly get back to normal weight. This does require smaller portions of food, and frequent intervals throughout the day. She also requested someone who can give her cookies in between, she really enjoys those! Poppi will be a very loyal and loving companion. She loves going for walks, and spending time outside. She would be a fantastic travel buddy. She does extremely well with potty training, and crate training. She’s learning a few basic commands.
Poppi is a gentle gal, and hopes that the perfect family finds her soon. She loves cuddles, being held like a baby, and just wants someone to love her like she does you. Someone will be extremely lucky to add this girl to their lives. She will be available to go home once spayed. Poppi is current on core vaccinations, has been dewormed, microchipped, given monthly flea and tick prevention, and is 4DX negative.
Her adoption fee is $150 but any potential adopter still needs an approved adoption application.

Adopting a Pet
To adopt an animal, please fill out an adoption application before visiting the Sanctuary. This speeds up the adoption process. All adoption applications require a reference check from a previous or current veterinarian and other references as needed.

The adoption fee covers all vaccinations, heartworm and feline leukemia/FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) testing, de-worming, and spay or neuter procedure.
Adoption Checklist
So, you think you're ready to adopt a pet? Check out the checklist below.
- Browse available pets on the website.
- Fill out the Adoption Form and submit it.
- Schedule an appointment to visit the shelter and meet your new friend.
- Pay the Adoption Fee.
- Take your new best friend home.
If you choose not to keep your adopted pet, contact Animal Friends at 304-290-4738, and we will make arrangements to re-enter the pet into the foster/adoption program. Your adoption fee is non-refundable.
